The Atnip Chiropractic office building is conveniently located to Cookeville's main traffic arteries. The Tennessee Qualilty Commitment Award-winning healthcare facility is a block and a half east of Willow Avenue and approximately a half mile west of Jefferson Avenue at 126 West Jackson Street. Norman Max Atnip, B.S., D.C., F.I.C.C.
Dr. Atnip attended Cumberland College in Lebanon, Tennessee receiving an Associate of Arts degree in 1967. He received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, and his Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from The National College of Chiropractic in Lombard Illinois (now the National University of Health Sciences) graduating in 1971. Dr Atnip is a Tennessee Licensed, Board-eligible Chiropractic Orthopedist.
Included among Dr. Atnip's professional memberships, awards and honors are: He was a former Consultant to the Tennessee State Board of Chiropractic Examiners and was twice chosen “Cookeville’s Favorite Chiropractor” by the Herald-Citizen’s Peoples Choice Awards. As a member and two-term Past President of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association he was twice chosen "Chiropractor of the Year" by his professional peers and presented with the Heritage Award in 2000 for outstanding service to the chiropractic profession.
In 2002 Dr. Atnip was endowed with a Fellowship to the International College of Chiropractors (FICC). He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and former Tennessee delegate to the ACA. Dr Atnip has also served as Past President of the Federation of Tennessee Chiropractors and past president of the Upper Cumberland Chiropractic Association. He is a Diplomat of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Past Chairman of the Legislative Council to the Tennessee Chiropractic Association, and Member of the ACA’s Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics.
Dr. Atnip is also a member of the National University of Health Sciences Alumni Association, Former Congressional Chairman for the Tennessee Chiropractic Association and Former Chairman for “Stars for Chiropractic’s Special Children” to benefit Kentuckiana Children’s Center. Dr. Atnip received the prestigious “Tennessee Quality Award” for High Standards of Excellence for Quality and Productivity in healthcare practice procedures -- one of only two chiropractic facilities in the state to have achieved this honor.
Dr. Atnip’s Civic and Community Memberships, Awards and Honors include: Past Chairman of the Citizen’s Advisory Board for Cookeville’s Department of Leisure Services, Past President and Lifetime Member of the Cookeville Jaycees, Past Chairman of the Cookeville Jaycees Board of Directors of Willow Park Apartments. He is a member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and former director of the Chamber’s board of Directors. He is also a twenty-year former member and director of the Cookeville noon Day Rotary Club, a 1996 graduate of Leadership Putnam, a 1997 Graduate of Cookeville’s Police Academy and a 1998 Graduate of Cookeville Citizen’s Fire Academy.
In 1980 Dr. Atnip was selected as an Outstanding Young Man Of America and in 1984 he was chosen Outstanding Young Man of the Year. He is a 2001 Volunteer Hero, a former member of the Tennessee Army National Guard and currently serves as a Major in the State Headquarters Medical Command of the Tennessee State Guard. He is a Board Member of the Cookeville Jaycees Academic Trust Fund. Dr. Atnip serves on the Advisory Board to MedVance (formerly the Upper Cumberland School Of Medical Technology) and is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the board of directors of the Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council (WCTE-TV-DT), Cookeville's public broadcast television station. Most recently in a recent poll conducted by the Cumberland Business Journal, Atnip Chiropractic was awarded the 2009 Ovation Award for Best Professional Services and Overall Exerence!
